The wonders of apple cider vinegar

The uses and benefits of raw unpasteurized unfiltered apple cider vinegar are many.
Daily consumption can help in your weight loss efforts or to simply improve the quality of your general well-being.

While Roman soldiers in the 2nd Century A.D. used ACV to prevent disease, stay strong and healthy, it was used for healing and as a natural antibiotic and antiseptic by Hippocrates in 400 B.C.

Like many others, the Gerston Institute encourages its use in hair and skin care, household cleaning, cooking and healing.

Should you use the popular Bragg’s unfiltered ACV or any other organic variety, the sediment at the bottom is the best part for you. It’s called “the mother” and has gut-friendly bacteria and enzymes that are good for you.

11 Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar

  1. ACV maybe harsh on the oesophagus and should not be taken straight. Although it may taste acidic it promotes alkalinity in the body, and cancer cannot live in an alkaline body.
  2. Considered by many to be “an all-natural fat-destroyer”, according to Jake Carney, founder of Alternative Daily, ACV is one of the most powerful “natural weight loss remedies”.
  3. ACV is also known to reduced fat storage and burn excess fat, while the acetic acid in the ACV improves metabolism.
  4. As ACV helps lower glucose levels it is good for diabetics. It also helps to promote the growth of healthy bacteria in the gut, and is said to suppress your hunger and make you feel full.
  5. ACV balances your body’s pH level, and can regulate and minimizes the presence of candida in your body. The best way to address this yeast problem is to take 1 to 2 tablespoons of ACV twice a day, and this is best achieved by adding the ACV to a glass to water and sipping it over the course of a day, or in a cup of hot tea with or without honey.
  6. ACV can be mixed with flax oil, lemon or orange juice, with a clove of garlic and some onion in a blender to make salad dressing.
  7. When a tablespoon of ACV is taken in a glass of water or tea before eating, it is helpful in relieving gas and bloating or when you feel heartburn coming on.
  8. Applying ACV to your hair as a rinse provides extra clarification in removing oil and dirt. The ACV balances your hair’s pH level, which results in the sealing of the hair cuticle, making the hair smoother and shinier, while soothing itchiness and irritation of the scalp.  Mix a tablespoon or two in a glass of water and pour through hair. Leave on hair for a minute or two before washing out completely.
  9. ACV is also a great detox for the body’s blood and tissues. However, in seeking clear skin the body responds to the detox with blemishes as it releases its toxins through the skin. Directly dabbing ACV on the skin with cotton pad or washcloth, as an astringent, will dry out the blemishes and heal them over time. It makes the skin feel smooth, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines
  10. Diluting ACV in water can also be applied to the skin for sunburn relief.
  11. ACV is a great non-toxic cleaning solution when mixed in a 1:1 ratio with water in a spray bottle, and can be used to clean from counters and tiles, to hardwood floors and surfaces.
