8 things to improve your sex life with your “Boo”

Chocolates and flowers, weekend getaways, candle lit for dinners for two and engagements at the end of the night (sigh), with most people expecting that their Valentine’s Day will end up between the sheets.

Well, hopefully.

Yes, there is more to life than sex. However, senses and expectations are at a peak leading up to Valentine’s Day, if you plan on enjoying the fireworks, keep your eyes on the prize i.e. sex, and pay close attention to subtle nuances and hints from the people who guard the temple – otherwise known as the prize givers.

Whether it’s your wife, girlfriend or the new lady in your life you’re getting to know, a physical connection sometimes comes with terms and conditions, an emotional or mental connection, a declaration or expression of affection or platitudes, or simply a great gift and a good time! It’s simpler than you think:

8 Ways to Improve Your Sex Life

  1. Don’t be scared to say how you feel – You know what, there is nothing wrong in loving someone, and letting them know you care! You may not know how to say “I love you” or even “I really enjoy spending time with you, I’d like to get to know you better”, and hope by your actions that they understand how you feel. Take baby steps or shout it from the roof top, but you owe it to yourself and the other person to say how you feel. If they don’t feel the same way, it may hurt initially, but at least you know and you can step to the curb and move on. The experience will make you a stronger person, and you have eliminated any doubts having established an open and honest relationship.
  2. Keep your family and friends out of your bedroom – If you want to make a positive difference in your personal life keep your bedroom business between you and your partner. Assuming there are only four legs in the bed, forget about everyone else and focus on you and the pair that aren’t yours.
  3. Keep the drama on the network and social media – There is a lot to be said for honesty, which works very closely with diplomacy. Not everything that comes to mind should be said. Remember you’re not perfect either, so don’t look for flaws, let the relationship blossom through praise and gestures of good intentions. P.S. Not everything should be posted, there is something called privacy.
  4. Create special moments – People are so caught up in “hooking up” these days that dating seems to be an old-fashioned tradition. But it allows you time to get to know the other person before you give them everything you’ve got. Dinner and movie or the theatre still works, lunch at a favourite restaurant and cafe, ice cream and walking on the boardwalk or in the park with the kids and the dog (yes the kids can come along too), these things still work and create a more receptive mood.
  5. A little extra thought and effort – You know! Do those things that makes your man feels more manly, (GRRRR) and that makes your woman more womanly (PURRR).
  6. Communicate, learn and explore – Relaxing and getting to know your body is just as important learning your partner’s. Talk about your likes and dislikes, changes that may be happening to your body, the “no-no’s” but keep in mind what you talk about during sex and in a non-sexual position are two distinct conversations. Sexual health issues, birth control and condom use, you have to get that all out into the open before you get into a position that you may find difficult to get out of.
  7. Stimulation – We’ve got five senses – sight, touch, smell, sound and taste – appeal to them!  Set the mood, from the music and the food, to the lighting and the scented candles, to the lingerie and the foreplay. Draw out the experience! Teasing throughout the day, with suggestive language and gestures, the red lipstick and stiletto heels, tight t-shirt across chiseled chest, well fitting jeans ….. It’s about what suit the two of you, no one else.
  8. Have fun – Forget about routines, be sensual, creative, adventurous, crazy! Instead to continuously looking for the differences, look for the things you both like that can bring you together!
